Maharashtra launches Annual Priority Sector Credit Plan

1. Maharashtra launched ‘state annual priority sector credit plan’ worth Rs 4,60,881 crore along with an ‘overall annual credit plan’ worth 18,10,779 crore.
2. It was launched during quarterly State Level Bankers Committee (SBLC) meeting of Maharashtra.
3. State government has set annual credit lending target of Rs 1.19 lakh crore for agriculture sector by banks for financial year 2021-2022.
4. Out of this, Rs 60,860 crore was set for crop loans during kharif and rabi seasons.
5. Banks have also disbursed crop loans worth Rs 47,972 crores for this financial year.
6. Government asked banks in state to continue more finance under crop loan disbursement for kharif 2021 season and to achieve season targets by
7. end of June 2021.
8. Banks have also been advised to improve credit disbursal under agriculture sector and support all government-sponsored schemes & SHGs.

Priority Sector Lending

1. Priority Sector Lending is decided as per RBI guidelines.
2. Under it, RBI mandates banks to lend certain amount from their funds to specified sectors such as agriculture; Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); education, export credit, renewable energy, housing and social infrastructure.
3. All scheduled commercial banks and foreign banks are mandated to keep 40% of their Adjusted Net Bank Credit (ANDC) to lend these sectors.

 DAC approves – Rs 43000 Crore RFP for Constructing 6 Submarines & Rs 6,000 Crore for Air Defence Guns

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approves Request For Proposal (RFP) for construction of 6 Conventional Submarines under Strategic Partnership (SP) Model at a cost of Rs. 43,000 crores and allocated Rs. 6,000 crores for modernisation of Indian Army’s Air Defence Guns and Ammunition.

Submarine Construction:

• 6 Conventional Submarines with state-of-art Air Independent Propulsion System will be indigenously developed under Project P75(1) through SP Model..

Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) System 

Normally, a diesel-electric engine used in Submarines needs oxygen supply for combustion of fuel. Whereas, an Air Independent Propulsion System will reduce the frequency of Oxygen needed in the engine, making the submarine eligible for deep-sea operations.

What is the Strategic Partnership Model?

1. Under SP Model, Indian companies will collaborate with Foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to construct equipment through Transfer of Technology.
2. Thus SP Model will boost Indian government’s ambitious ‘Make in India’ projects in Defence

Modernizing Air Defence Guns:

1. DAC gave approval for modernising Air Defence Guns and Ammunition of Indian army at a cost of Rs. 6,000 crores under Buy & Make (India) category.
2. Till date, Guns & Ammunition used by Indian armed forces are manufactured by foreign players.
3. For the 1st time, Indian companies are planning to manufacture guns.

Emergence of order from chaos in turbulent systems and Bose-Einstein condensation

1. An important phenomenon studied in aerospace engineering is the emergence of order from chaos in turbulent systems that leads to detrimental large amplitude fluctuations.
2. Examples of this include aeroelastic flutter as observed in the wings of aircraft and thermoacoustic instabilities in rocket combustors, both of which can lead to the breaking down of the system.
3. For this reason, it is important to be able to predict and understand such happenings and avoid them.
4. Thermoacoustic instability, which comprises self sustained large amplitude periodic oscillations, can overwhelm the thermal protection system in combustion chambers, cause damage to structural parts such as turbine blades, or even affect the guidance and control system of rockets and lead to mission failures
5. Understanding of the emergence of order in chaotic systems by drawing an analogy with a phenomenon widely studied in quantum statistical physics-Bose Einstein condensation (BEC).
6. In BEC, Bosons, which are elementary particles having spins that take integer values, such as 0,1 or 2, condense to the lowest energy level when temperature is taken to very low values.
7. The group has shown an analogous condensation taking place in the case of order emerging from chaos in turbulent systems.
8. To understand this, take the concept of phase space – an dynamic imaginary space where a particle is represented by its position and momentum at every instant of time.
9. The acoustic dynamics of the combustor is represented as a trajectory moving in this imaginary space.
10. There are several possible orbits, and so even as the trajectory moves towards one orbit, it is attracted to a different orbit, and therefore does not stick to any one orbit.
11. However, as the parameter is tuned and the system makes a transition towards order, the number of orbits is reduced and therefore, the trajectory gets caught in a few stable orbits.
12. The researchers label this process a type of “condensation”.

About Bose-Einstein condensate

1. A Bose-Einstein condensate is so named because its existence was posited almost a century ago by Albert Einstein and Indian mathematician Satyendra Nath Bose.
2. This exotic material only exists when atoms of certain elements are cooled to temperatures near absolute zero.

 Kerala launches ‘Knowledge Economy Mission’.

1. Kerala government has launched ‘Knowledge Economy Mission’ to boost job prospects in the state by supporting knowledge workers.

Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a joint venture under the Ministry of Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) for a strategic partnership to implement energy-efficient and clean energy solution in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry.
2. Rajat Sud, Managing Director of EESL and Amitabha Sur, National President of ISHRAE signed the MoU in August 2021 in the presence of the officials of EESL and ISHRAE.
3. The MoU was signed in the background of World Environment Day.
4. Note: ISHRAE works with an aim to advance the arts and science of HVAC&R engineering and related services and to promote research in the field of HVAC&R technology
