According to the World Economic Forum’s annual Gender Gap Report, 2023, India improved eight places from the previous year to rank 127 out of 146 nations in terms of gender parity (WEF).
It claimed that enrolment across all educational levels had reached parity throughout the nation. According to the research, India had reduced the global gender gap by 64.3%. It did highlight the fact that India had only attained 36.7% parity in terms of economic opportunity and participation.

India has achieved the highest level of political empowerment since the first report in 2006, with women making up 15.1% of legislators, or 25.3% of the total.
In 18 of the 117 nations for which data are currently available since 2017, including Bolivia (50.4%), India (44.4%), and France (42.3%), women hold more than 40% of the local government positions.
