Massive sandstorm: Videos have surfaced online of a massive sandstorm engulfing China’s northwestern region last week, reports Money control.
The details: Winds of 53 km per hour created a sandstorm on Wednesday in parts of the Qinghai province in China and lasted for over 4 hours, as per NDTV.

In the videos, gigantic clouds of sand can be seen approaching fast and encompassing buildings and vehicles and blocking the sun.
- The affected area was the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
- However, there were no casualties due to the storm.
Of note: Newsweek notes that, while the sandstorm did occur, some videos may have been edited with exaggerated sound effects.
Meanwhile, China is also combating extreme weather phenomena, like many countries across the globe.
- Large sections of northern, eastern and central China are currently experiencing extreme temperatures, with experts predicting no immediate relief, as per CNN.
- At the same time, heavy rainstorms have caused death and displacement through flooding and landslides.
