EXCEPTIONAL FEATURES OF YAKUTSK BASIN
Yakutsk Basin is known for extremely cold conditions, permafrost ground, and features related to it. Swamps and Thermokarst lakes are very common in the region. Thermokarst means frozen ground. As Thermokarst thaws out, it is converted into swamps. They are called by the name of alas depression.
Yakutsk basin contain alas depression as well as low bulges, which are going to be called by the name of BULGUNNJAKH or hydro laccolith.
The biggest problem Global warming can create in Arctic region is to melt Permafrost. What is not an implication of thawing in permafrost is.
(a) Increased carbon release
(b) Fire
(c) New type of diseases
(d) Landslides
(e) Drying of Rivers
