Svalbard Mission : A Rohini RH-300 Mk-II sounding rocket launched from Svalbard, Norway, on November 20, 1997, inaugurating a new rocket launch facility there.
About Rohini
A single-stage sounding rocket, the Rh-300 is based on the French Belier rocket engine.
Its launch height is 100 kilometers.
The maximum launch altitude of one model, the RH-300 Mk-II, is 116 kilometers.
The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, an ISRO facility, created the RH-300 Mk-II as a member of the Rohini family of sounding rockets.
The Norwegian Space Centre (NSC) changed the name of the RH-300 Mk-II to Isbjorn-1, which means “Polar Bear-I.
