- The Minister of State for Development of the North Eastern Region has requested suggestions for the Devika River project in Udhampur, J&K.
- The Namami Gange Project is compared to this project.
- The project will result in less pollution and better water quality.
About Devika Project
- The project is worth Rs. 190 crores.
- Work on the project began in March 2019 as part of the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
- As part of the project,
- Bathing “ghats” (locations) on the Devika River’s banks will be developed.
- Encroachments will be removed
- Natural water bodies will be restored
- Catchment areas, as well as a cremation ground, will be developed
- Small hydropower plants and three solar power plants will be developed.
- The project will result in less pollution and better water quality.
